Japanese Cherry Tree Festival 1Dimensions: 30" x 40" Materials: Acrylic On Canvas This is the first of a series of two paintings influenced by my visit to the Japanese Cherry Tree Festival in Schwerte (the German twin town to Hastings) last year. An event which normally takes place at night during the early spring. But due to the severity of the last winter the trees were late in blossoming. The trees are lit up and this for me produced a wide variety of colours and possibilities to explore. Prints are available.

A brief introduction to art by NICKROWLAND
I would nowadays describe my work as “Avant Garde” (the application of new techniques)
and modernistic (the deliberate departure from tradition) approach. I work mostly in acrylics and sometimes collage on canvas and see my work as a constant exploration of tone colour, contrast, shape and form.
